Minister for curbing black marketing of fertilizers

 

Srinagar, June 24: Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Abdul Aziz Zargar distributed cheques of freight amounting to Rs 2.56 crore among 33 cooperative societies of the state at an impressive function held here today.

Among others Secretary Cooperative Tanveer Jehan, Registrar Cooperative Societies Dr G N Qasba, senior officers of the department and representatives of cooperatives societies were present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Minister also reviewed the functioning of the department. It was apprised to the Minister that presently 33 cooperative societies are functioning in the state including 26 in Kashmir and 7 in Jammu divisions besides central level cooperative societies have also been constituted to facilitate the farmer community for getting the fertilizers including Urea, DAP, IFFCO, IPL etc. ...

Secretary Cooperatives Reviews the working of Jammu and Kashmir
State Cooperative Bank Ltd; Srinagar. (J&KSCB).

Today on 16/6/2008 Ms. Tanveer Jahan, Secretary to Govt. Cooperative Department along with Dr. G. N. Qasba, Registrar, Cooperative Societies J&K, reviewed the working of Jammu and Kashmir State Cooperative Bank (J&KSCB) at its Headquarters with reference to the financial parameters for the last four years. During the review meeting following position emerged:

Total deposits of the Bank during the year 2004-05 were to the order of 501.04 lacs which figure had reached to 580.00 lacs during the year 2007-08. The Bank had fixed a target of 675 lacs for the current year ...

Secretary Cooperatives Reviews the working of Jammu and Kashmir
Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd; Srinagar.

Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd; Srinagar (JKMPCL) was established in 2004 for catering to the needs of the Milk Producers of the State, besides providing them remunerative prices and ensuring quality milk to the consumers. JKMPCL is presently operating two Milk Plants at Chehmashahi Srinagar and Satwari Jammu with a processing capacity of 25000 Ltrs of milk per day.

Today on 16/6/2008 Ms. Tanveer Jahan, Secretary to Govt. Cooperative Department along with Dr. G. N. Qasba, Registrar, Cooperative Societies J&K, undertook a thorough review of the working of the Institution at Chesmashahi Srinagar. It was reported in the review meeting that over nine thousand ltrs of milk was being processed at the plant daily and further marketed in the Srinagar City under the Brand name “SNOW CAP”. The procurement of milk was being made from the Districts of Anantnag, Budgam, Pulwama and Srinagar. The Milk Cooperative during the financial year 2007-08 had earned a profit of Rs. 34.00 lacs. It was further reported in the meeting that the production of cured and ghee was also in the process and the same would also be marketed under the Brand name “SNOW CAP” shortly ...

NABARD approves Rs 300-cr loan for J&K

Jammu, April 7: The State Government would construct 4000 additional classrooms for accommodation deficient about 1000 newly up-graded high and higher secondary schools throughout the State. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) will provide a loan of Rs. 100 crore for undertaking this construction activity to be completed in four months. Another Rs. 200 crore would be made available by NABARD for construction of buildings for 100 primary health centres and 200 allopathic and ayurvedic dispensary buildings this year across the State.

Govt contemplating to accord core
sector status to agriculture: Zargar

Jammu, Feb 22 : "Out of Rs. 1931 crore, credit plan 2008-2009, projected by NABARD for the State, Rs. 471 crore would be available for agriculture and Rs. 538 crore for Non Agriculture Sectors" said Minister for Co-operatives and Agriculture, Abdul Aziz Zargar after releasing "The State Focus Paper 2008-2009" at "State Credit Seminar-2008-2009, organized by NABARD here today.

Two Women Cooperative Banks in Jammu and Srinagar to Empower Women

The government is establishing two women cooperative banks in Jammu and Srinagar to empower women folk financially and morally as well, an official statement said. This according to the statement was disclosed by the Hon'ble Minister for Agriculture and Cooperative Jenab Abdul Aziz Zargar while addressing Kashmir Women Credit Cooperative Bank General Body meeting at Kursoo Raj Bagh here today.

The meeting was infor med that a board of management, headed by Madam Nighat Pandith and Madam Shahida Khanam, has already been selected, which is looking after the working of the present credit co-operative veteren banker Peerzadda Muhammad Latif were nominated advisor during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, Jenab Abdul Aziz Zargar said that the year 2007, which is being celebrated as women empowerment year would help the women of Jammu and Kashmir too to come forward in venturing in different fields for overall progress of the state. He appealed the women community to ensure their membership. Jenab Abdul Aziz Zargar further stated that the Men and women have to work together in present developmental era. Jenab Abdul Aziz Zargar assured the women that government, particularly the Chief Minister is committed to transform the socio-economic profile of women of Jammu and Kashmir.

NABARD organises State Credit Seminar

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a State Credit seminar here today. The seminar was inaugurated by S S Sahni, Principal Secretary Agriculture Production, J&K. It was attended by Regional Director, RBI, Registrar, Cooperative Societies J&K and senior bureaucrats as also distinguished bankers. Sectoral papers on core sectors were released by the chief guest on the occasion.

In his inaugural address, Mr Sahni congratulated NABARD for organising this programme at a time when J&K Government has initiated a number of good schemes. He also lauded its efforts for preparing state focused paper as a very comprehensive document. He said Agriculture productivity in the State was deficient with regard to the foodgrain requirements of the state. To address this issue there should be a paradigm shift from the subsistence farming level to surplus production. He said there was immense potential in sericulture, poultry and dairy sectors in the state.

O P Aggarwal Regional Director RBI, said that J&K was heading towards economic prosperity with an estimated growth rate of 6% during 2005-06 over average growth rate of 5% during the previous five years. He said that agriculture occupies an important place in our economy. Chief General Manager of the NABARD, J&K Mr Mahapatra and Dr G N Qasba also spoke on the occasion.
